I would say demux with dif4u (main movie only probably). Create a scenaid script using original assets, import into scenarist, add your subs, compile and put it back together.

if i do it that way there are two things that trouble me a bit..
first scenarist giving me an error the authored project is gonna be bigger than 4.3gb.. that means somewhere in scenarist it says it will be a single layer disc..
and the layer switch.. how do i keep that the same as the original?

Well I've never authored a dvd9 so I wouldn't know about the layer break. Scenarist will probabl;y complain that the dvd is too big (if it's not possible to set a higher disc size than 4,3 GB), but will compile anyway.

When you create a new project in Scenarist, you have to choose between single and dual layer, so, in your case, select dual layer.
