Was trying to decrypt the forgotten ntsc r1 and got the following error:

W 20:04:53 Sector 3402622 - Pack Header Not Found (0x00000000)
W 20:04:53 Sector 3402623 - Pack Header Not Found (0x00000000)
W 20:04:53 Sector 3402624 - Pack Header Not Found (0x00000000)
W 20:04:53 Arrrrgggh! Too Many 'Pack Header Not Found' Errors!
W 20:04:53 'Pack Header Not Found' logging has been halted for now.

This occured at about 78% through the rip on the 4th vob. This rip was done in file mode. I have the most recent version of dvd decrypter installed and always update when auto-notified.

I did this on 2 seperate PC's with a brand new DVD disk. Prior to this I had just got done ripping 7 other DVD's and after I ripped 3 more and none of these had a problem other then the title mentioned above.

The first PC locked up after the error and the 2nd pc paused for about 30 seconds and continued and finished the rip.

I bought the project into dvd shrink and tried to play title 1 (main movie original)in reauthor mode and all I had was buzzing noise for about the first 10 minutes and the timer would not increment. I then tried it with title 2 (main movie extended version) and got the same result. I then used the slider to forward the movie until it reset back to 00:00:00 and that was the start of the movie. So the only way I was able to process the movie was to set start and end times then encode.

From what I can see the dvd has 10 minutes of black frames and buzzing audio (garbage) before the actual movie starts.

I'm not sure if this is some new movie protection scheme but I thought I'd report this.

These are expected on the newer discs that have additional copy protection on them. Just ignore them, they're only warnings - a kind of 'sanity' check. It was a mistake to ever put 'Arrrggh too many pack header ERRORs', it should have said 'Warnings'.

If I logged them all, the program would grind to a halt displaying them all, so I dont bother after X number in a row.

Also, when you're shrinking, use the cropping tool to remove the first chunk of the film (or first 8 cell or so), because it's just the dummy data where the bad sectors used to be.

Normally, players would skip this area, but DVD Shrink removes the command from the IFO files (or doesnt copy it over) that tells them to.

to quote from the latest anydvd

New: Added support for a new version of the "Sony ARccOS protection" as found on "The Forgotten" (US) to the option to remove "Protection based on unreadable Sectors"

so yes expect to see more of these no doubt.

simple solution, rip it with DvdDecrypter, run it through VobBlanker(the latest removes unrefernced material which is what the protected sectors are), then run it through dvdshrink. or if dont want to use VobBlanker and you get the unreferenced material in dvdshrink then turn that to still image(the one where it replaces the selected title with a loadable picture).

you can also just read the plethora of resident evil 2 threads on this forum since its the same thing. theres enough of them. :sly:

When encoding The Forgotten for some reason it only enocodes like 2MB of audio. The video encodes, but because of the audio problem I end up with a little audio at the beginning (mis-aligned) and the file size is wrong as well. I had the same problem with Little Black Book, but not with Resident evil. In all cases I used DVD2AVI to remove the blank few minutes at the beginning due to the blank cells in the new encryption. I am using the newest version of AutoGK as well, 1.87. Thank you for any info you can help me with.

has anyone had any luck with Friday Night Lights (released the same day as The Forgotten) it rips fine with DVD Decrrypter (newest version) but DVDshrink bombs out at 1% each time saying it has an error. tried running it through VOBblanker but it says it reached the end of the VOB too early and will abort. RE2 i had no problem with VOBblanker...ran it through fine and shrunk it and burned it with nero...but these two titles have been giving me fits!!!
