Recode seems unable to detect the 16:9 stream information in my 16:9 DV AVI files. It reads them as 4:3, forcing a manual resize (which can't be done at the lower bitrates in the latest version of Recode). What is wrong and what do I need to do to transcode my files in the proper aspect ratio?

Thanks in advance.

Try to feed Recode with an avisynth script in which your clip is.
Do resize in the script ;)

Apparently Nero has taken the Microsoft path. They release almost working softwares and count on users (and especially the Doom9 ppl) to test them to death and find bugs... I hope we'll get a reward from that. But until the software look stable, I won't buy it.

Hey, everybody agrees that the Recode 2.2.6.4 release was not very successful, but that doesn't mean that we have taken any "Microsoft" -path.
Probably things didn't go perfectly because people had lots of vacations recently, CES-show was just recently etc..
Things should get better very soon.

Then experience should help knowing that it's not good to release something when all people want to go in vacation or won't be able to handle support problems. Or maybe you just wanted to release it ASAP, in its current state. That's what I call the Microsoft path (that and using users as beta testers when you have enough money to do it on your side).

That's what I call the Microsoft path I think partly problems raised because of this "monthly update policy", that there will be update every beginning of the month. Or I don't know exactly because I'm not the official word about this here, just my guess that it and some other things resulted not so successfull release.

Anyway we are working on improving the Q/A and I think I will be more officially involved in Recode Q/A, so hopefully in the future you can just complain to me if something doesn't work.. :D

(that and using users as beta testers when you have enough money to do it on your side). Are you referring to the AVC codec beta test? I think many people took it very positively that they can participate in something like that..
