that would generally indicate that scenarist was not able to find video assets (the mpeg2 video files) from your project. either they werent made or the script points to the wrong locations. please provide more information.. what steps did you use.. what dvd? did the files seem to encode (the batchccews/docce4u step)

Hey coolieman2001, I had the exact same problem. But then I recalled that NUMENU gave me some odd little error (that i couldn't find in log) during the menu-reencoding & demuxing process that I sort of ignored, as it seemed to proceed on fine after that. When it didn't work out in Scenarist, I went to this forum and saw this thread: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=87433 about NUMENU, and wondered if that would solve my error (not knowing if it was connected to my scenarist problem or not).
I downloaded newest build and the two files Automate_Scenarist and NuMenu4u exe, placed them in my numenu directory, and redid my process. This time i had no error in numenu, an when I came to the Scenarist part, this time everything worked out fine. Could have been a coincidence, but I’m confident that it has to do with the numenu update. I did exactly the same thing as on my previous encode that gave me the same place holder errors as you. Only difference was those 2 files, NuMenu4u exe & Automate_Scenarist which I didn't have before, and now it works splendid.
I've only done this for a months time, so I don't got that much experience but I hope this will help you :)

since i am getting the same error (after numenu fails to automatically build the dvd files for the menu and hence tells me to import build and run bat manually) i believe this is a common issue.
can it be the fact that the guide tells to encode stills (numenu option in encode)? This forum link http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=87197 seems to be similar to the problem I (we) get... can it be the solution to remove all AVS files in D_VTS_01_0\FRAMESERVING folder related to place holder errors, reimport and rebuild?
regards and thanks for any reply,
gemon

No... that other post was related to ScenAid not NuMenu.... different apps, function different ways..
In this particular case, (any in this thread) which assets are being imported as placeholders?
If you think it's the re-encoded stills, uncheck that option in numenu (these in reality will rarely need to be re-encoded - only if they are at a different AR then the other assets)

indeed D3S7, you are right...
as I thought, I just needed to deselect the re-encode stills option in numenu that automate scenarist worked perfectly and scenarist itself completed both import and build smoothly.
Thanks for the reply!
