View Full Version : keeping menus when combining two DVDs onto one DVD using DVDshrink3.2.0.15

I have searched this site for information regarding menus, but due to the vast information it was hard to find the exact information that I was looking for.

From the information that I was able to attain, I believe it is possible to create a single DVD, using the Re-Author feature of DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15, which combines 2 DVDs, AND at the same time, keep the menu selections functioning for both DVDs.

I tried this once, but in my final product, the menus screens, while present, were not able to be clicked, and simply played in succession, as if they were screenshots.

I'm not sure that I did tbe best job of explaining, but in summation, I am wondering if it possible to combine two DVDs with functioning menus onto one DVD.

Thanks for the help. Feel free to point me to a link if the question has already been answered/process has already been outlined.

hi Wheezy02 and welcome to the forum!

wow, first post and your already asking the tough questions :D.

to be honest, i doubt that this is possible using shrink alone. personally i would try this approach.

reauthor dvd 1 using this method: Ever wanted to put an original menu back on a DVD Shrink reauthored DVD? (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=86556) by blutach, to include the menu.

repeat for dvd 2.

then use dvd remake (or freeware alternatives) to merge the two re-authored dvds onto one, with a new selection title menu. see this thread for a place to start:
3 DVDs in 1? (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=87640)

good luck

Alternatively you could make your own menu and import it to your re-authored DVD as explained in my guide (http://www.dvdshrink.info/chetwood/guides.php#PgcEdit_menuimport).
