I've had problems remuxing an mpg MPEG-1 file into matroska. If i use gabest's filter, it insists on decoding the video stream. If I use VirtualDubMod when i try to play it back it get FOURCC errors (MPC claims the fourcc is ÿÿÿÿ). Has anyone successfully remuxed MPEG-1 into the matroska container?

you will have to use Haali's splitter i think and mux with the latest MKVtoolnix.
VirtualDubMod is outdated and wont handle such Matroska files.

You need a current development build of mkvmerge to do that: http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/win32/pre/HEAD/
For playback you need Haali's splitter like stephan said.
