I'm trying to backup my first BOV title.
First, I have created buttons in the Scenarist.
Now I'm trying to set button commands for the buttons.

I loaded the ripped DVD into MenuEdit to see what the button commands are. One of the button command is "Call "root" menu (resume cell 1)"

I tried command "Jump to PGC in system space" and chose Jump to "Root Menu PGC". I tried compling with Scenarist but the SCenarist gives an error "Error No.2 command error at Menu"VTS_02_VSUB_P19A1-00-(Not_1", "VTS_02" (JumpSS or CallSS destination is Root Menu PGC, but it does not exist)".

How do I create this command with Scenarist? When I chose "Root Menu PGC", the command is "CallSS RSM=1, RootMenu" when it should be "CallSS VTSM" (I think).

I'm stuck with my first BOV title. Help is badly needed.

I played the original disc with PowerDVD and when the button(It's a "BACK" button) that I'm trying to create is pressed, I'm taken back to PGC2 of VTS_02_0.VOB. How do I create jump command for this?

I'm trying to figure this out...
In the Scenarist layout, I created a dummy root-menu with two PGCs. Now, which command do I have to choose in Scenarist?

You are correct the command is signifying a jump to the Root menu pgc of the menu. the easiest way to do this is to drag the cursor from the 'buttons' to the menu pgc. make sure that the menu pgc is set to root menu. the first pgc should be automatically. once dragged the button selection screen should show up, at which point you select the button that makes this jump { this is for when more than 1 button }. the little box saying 'buttons' should now turn yellow. hovering over this box will show the actual command.

good luck

Thanks Zeul.
Scenarist compiles without any error and all the buttons are correctly created except their colors.
I guess I have to do more searching in the forum to find out how to get correct button colors.

hi leeza,
there is quite a lot of links to all BOV related issues/threads/guides listed here: Big 3 Tools: Guides and FAQs (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=74867)

there is also a link to change colours in a subpicture stream: how to correct subpicture colours in scenarist (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=80733)

although i comend you on learning the manual technique of creating BOV, it would be remiss of me not to point out the fantastic utility, ScenAid, developed by D3s7 which now takes most (if not all) of the complex task out of re-authoring a BOV title.

cheers

You mean: takes away all the good fun of manual reauthoring :D

(it is a wonderful tool)
