View Full Version : a little observation

hi folks,
I made a little observation concerning DVB-T captures...
2 movies were captured via DVB-T, postprocessed (Ad-Cut, Editing, etc.) than authored with DVD-Lab (1 VMG-Menu, 1 VTS/movie, etc.) -> resulting DVD is ~ 5GB, or 7GB... it depends on the length of the movies of course.
If I let RB "shrink" the DVD to fit on a single 4.37 DVD, then the output is "always" 4.39GB (ok, only 3x times 'till now).
This never occured with any Studio-mastered DVD I did so far... and I did numerous :)
what would U think?
thanks in advance

Check the finished movie (4.39)in something like DVD Shrink or whatever... to see if DVD-RB removed all the audio track you selected (if any) and sub-titles (again, if any), being thats it's only a little over I don't think it's an audio track but...
I say this because I have had a few movie resently do just the same thing and after checking them in DVD Shrink I noticed "All" the sub-titles were present (in ReBuilder, I selected remove all but English) and in one movie (I, Robot) all the audio tracks were present. After removing them with Shrink it was 4.36...fine by me.
Hope this helps

Thanks for your reply...
there are no audio tracks or subpictures to remove... as I said it is a DVB-T capture and I only captured one audio stream and no sub-picture stream.
And what U discovered (RB is not removing selected items) I’ve never experienced myself with any studio-mastered DVD.
These 20MB oversize aren’t really a big issue but it’s kind of mysterious that only my DVD-Lab authored "DVB-T DVDs" get oversized – but as I said only 3x times so far...

Please post your REBUILDER.INI file. Did you use the default target size or has it been modified?

hi jdobbs,
I can't post the REBUILDER.INI file - I've deleted all files - in retrospect this was very silly ;)
and no, I didn't use the default target size...
it has been modified to: CCETargetSectors=2264619
with this target size I've always hit 4,37GB exactly but for sure there's the rub.
thanks for your time replying to my post

You might want to think about backing that off a little. The cost of trying to fill to the absolute end of the disc is an occasional oversize.
