Hi. I have been backing up my dvds and I am getting some skipping near the end of the movies.

I have a brand new P4 computer (512mb ram) with a LG dvd burner, and I am using LG dvd-r's.

I have used NERO, then I switched to CLONEDVD. Both of them had the same result. With CLONEDVD I managed to backup 1 dvd without any skipping... but the 2nd one had alot of skipping near the end. I am assuming that if I rebooted my computer that I would be able to create one more free of errors. Is there something else I can do?

Thanks in advance.

NOTE:
Not that I think it matters. But I am backing up Smallville, which I am using DVD Decrypter>Nero Recode>CLONEDVD. But like I said I've used different burning programs and I have try to backup more then one movie and the same results. I should also mention that my firmware has been updated to the lastest version.

hi and welcome to the forum,

your problem is most likely due to some bad burner/media combination. pls head over to www.dvdrhelp.com and check your burner in your database to find more information about what media works with your burner.

alternatively, have you tried lowering the burning (e.g. to 2x or even 1x and see if that helps??

If it was the media wouldn't it just do it once or a while? Or even every disk. It does not skip on the first disk I burn.

Sometimes when trouble shooting it's best not to assume, but to eliminate potential concerns one at a time. I would try other media. You might also try burning the same project twice and running a transfer rate test on both in Nero CD-DVDSpeed.

Could this be an overheating thing? Hot burners will make more errors.
Perhaps heat dissipation in your system is not good enough to create back-to-back burns without a break to allow the heat to escape. What happens if you burn a disc, give it five minutes with nothing running but without restarting and burn another. Does that work?

Only an idea.
