Hi there
I have problem with audio encoding on NErorecode today's version.
When I select dolby 5.1 channel instead of stereo, the encoded movie file sounds obscure and strange, while stereo mode encoding gives normal sound. I am sure the original movie has 5.1 dolby as it is clearly indiated in information section. And i have the correct serial number for Dolby plugin.
What is wrong with my encoding setting ? Any help?

Maybe a stupid point, but are you sure you chose Dolby 5.1? The standard 5.1 in Recode is HE-AAC, not Dolby's AC3/.

Here are three snapshot of my setting.
As you can see, there are only two option either selecting stereo, or dolby 5.1. When ever I choose, dolby5.1, resulting sound is distored and too low ssound volume.

At least, I would like to know if it is only me who has this problem or is it problem with recode itself?

Dolby digital 5.1 is the "sound" you're importing.
Recode will automatically convert it to stereo AAC or 5.1 AAC (nero digital audio).
The volume issue has been already discussed and it's a bug in nero recode.
Plz use the search function the next time.

Thank your for your answer, Sharktooth.
I tried to use serach function, but coudlnt find approapriate answer to my question. mostof information relating Dolby, or 5.1 are all too technical. :(
So, I can understand that dolby5.1 refering to the sound format of original dvd movie. Then, why it is that the nerodigitalaudio 5.1 encoded result give me distorted, unrecognizable sound beside of its low volume ? Only stereo encoding give me normal sound.
Is this my personal problem ?

Well, AFAIK the only problems with audio are volume (too low) and synchronization (with some kind of telecined movies).
Distortion is new to me.
Ensure the audio filter used to decode the AAC audio is the nero digital audio filter and not some other third party filter.

I had this same problem. For me the problem was I had ffdshow decoding the aac audio. Once I disabled that, everything was fine (using the Core AAC decoder). I still have a problem with Nero Showtime playing my 5.1 movies. They play like they are in slow motion. They play fine in Zoom Player and Media Player Classic.

I figured out my slowdown problem. I have an Nforce2 MB with Soundstorm and SPDIF out. When I chose SPDIF out for audio, it would play slow. When I choose 6 speaker, it plays fine. It is definately playing 5.1 audio, I am just wondering is it because the Soundstorm takes the AAC audio and converts it on the fly to DD via the SPDIF output, or does the Nero decoder convert it? My speakers are Logitech Z680's, and they only decode DD and DTS.
