Have a difficult movie.

It's over 8GB and Quenc gives 52% compression.

After running it , i get a bit better result then with DVDshrink.

Still blocking effects even in egal backgtounds (Shrink is worse here).
Still see artificials, noise. (Shrink is worse here)

The bitrate Quenc gave was about 2400.

The main question here is, how to archive the best result:

I ran Quenc 54 with no quality options enabled.

So question 1, what will enabling the both quality options have impact on quality ?, I red that this would be minimal, but is it also true with low bitrates ?

Question 2: Is the use of CCE (58$) worth giving quality improvements above Quenc ?

Question 3:

I heard jjobbs speaking of pre-processing programs for de-pixalization etc.

Who can tell me the processing programms, where to find them and in short , whats their use ?

Thx in advance

1. not sure

2. definately

3. the only time post processing software will help is if you can remove titles (previews, ,extras, etc..) to allow for higher bitrates on the main movie. Check out vobblanker, titlesetblanker, dvd remake pro, pgcedit, (there are many)

CCE is deffinitly worth a try and I beleave you can try before you buy.

The most common way of pre-processing this movie is to get rid of the menus and extras. This can be accomplished in two ways. Use infoedit and open the IFO that contains the movie and strip out the audio thats not needed then run the stripped files through dvd-rb. This is my perfered method. You can find guides on this board

Or:

You can run dvdshrink in author mode to extract the movie only as well as the audio you want to keep. Make sure you extract it with no compression then run those extracted files throught dvd-rb. DVDshrink will complain about it being to big for a dvd5 but just ignore the error.

Both these methods will give you a movie only backup which when put into your set top dvd player will immidiatly start the movie and have no menus.
