The problem I am having is that Nero thinks that the video is 29 fps when it is really 23 fps. So I get faster video that is shorter than the audio.

Here are the steeps I took.

1. Rip DVD with dvdecryptor
2. Load Nero and select Recode dvds and videos
3. Import the vob file (it shows up as 29.97 fps)

What I have found is if I encode a DVD directly from the DVD its self Nero will recognize the video as 23 fps but when I rip the DVDs to the hdd Nero will then recognize the video as 29 fps.

Am i doing something wrong in dvdecryptor?

First--
Check your local copyright laws. Make sure you're allowed to do this where you live.

Next--
Its an issue that I'm told has been reported to the people responsible. See "Nero Recode 2.2 Audio Sync issue and possible culprit" thread.

In the meantime either--
1. Use the DVD mode,
2. Frameserve with AviSynth, or
3. Set the VOB video stream's fps fields to 23.976.

cheers

Thanx for the reply.

You mentioned that i should

"3. Set the VOB video stream's fps fields to 23.976."

When in the process should i do this and how?

the only way I know of for sure is to use ReStream (pulldown.exe will mess up some flags), but it needs an elementary stream. So you'd have to demux/restream/remux and at that point you're probably better off using avisynth anyway.

i'm sure it'd be possible to write a quick program to do it within a .VOB. there might already be a program that can do it, but i wouldn't know which one. sorry.

If DVD mode won't work, you might try building it into a new DVD using TMPG DVD Author. that would probably be the fastest, easiest solution to your problem.

good luck!
