hey guys
i'm encoding and authoring a dvd with the big 3 and adding a custom subtitle stream (original has no subtitles)..
all goes well until it's time to update the ifo's..
i've tried ifoupdate (v0.78) and batchupdateifo (0.9.5 beta) and both have their own problem..
ifoupdate:
only works when i select adjust cell mode (that normal btw for this ifo structure?).. subtitles work fine but something gets messed up with the trailers (pgc 2 > vobid 2 & 3 in the original ifo).. when i select the trailers from menu i'm directed to a chapter point somewhere in the middle of the movie.. and when playing the movie at the end it also plays the trailers like they are part of the movie..
batchupdateifo:
trailers work fine the way they should.. but my subtitlestream isn't selectable..
i've put all 4 VTS_01_0.IFO's in rarfile that can be downloaded here:
http://dvd.patsboem.com/stuff/VTS_01_0.IFO.rar
please help me (:

i looked at your ifo.. it looks like it might have been the setting that you used is scenarist.. the stream 1 is on but doesnt note a letterbox setting .. so here is how you fix.. load ifo in ifo edit (the batchupdate one) and goto the vtspgciti->vts_pgc_1 and change the substream 1 status value to '-2147483392' that should do it.

i did what you said but it made no change
i remember clearly checking the L in scenarist for the letterbox setting
i've compared the batchupdated ifo against the ifoupdated ifo and dont see any difference..
could it be a bug in powerdvd? my standalone displays my subtitle sjust fine..

hmm i tried the disc on another standalone dvdplayer (pioneer) and that one doesn't recognize the subtitle stream either..
seems this isn't just a powerdvd bug but a problem in the dvd structure ):
anyone?

make your .scn file available.. i'll take a look .. oh and you HAVE to have a wide letterbox for 16:9... scenarist would never compile it otherwise .. thing is you have to make sure your scenario points to the right place for wide/letterbox for that title.

you can download the .scn here:
http://dvd.patsboem.com/stuff/scenarist.scn.rar
just take .rar part from the filename.. it isn't really a rar..
i just realized something that might be the cause of my subtitle problem..
the titleset consists out of two pgc's (movie and trailers) but i only add subtitles to the movie pgc.. maybe i should add a dummy subtitle stream to the trailers pgc..

ahh.. i see the issue.. it wouldnt show up when using the original subs but when adding them in you see it.. the vtsi_mat isnt updating from the authored (i use the original) will be fixed in next batchupdateifo.. for now just add this to the vtsi_mat of the batchupdateifo's ifo that you already have and save it (this is from your authored)

make sure you undid the change in the substream setting in the pgci if you didnt already.. it is -2147483648 since it is [WL] for the same substream based on your .scn..
