Hi im new to ripping dvds and encoding and all. Well the problem is when i choose my desired file size it dosnt produce a file even close to what i set it as. I am ripping and encoding an episode off a series disc. The output file works fine and its great quality but its not my desired file size. I am using AUTOGK and encoding in XVID. Could someone help please?

Hello, and welcome to the forum-
The output file works fine and its great quality but its not my desired file size.
So, most likely you already got the best quality for your chosen settings, and it won't get any bigger. The term for that is "saturating" the codec. If you check the log file that AutoGK created while it was doing its thing, I'm pretty sure you'll see a compression test result greater than 100%. That's an indication that you won't be able to reach the size you set.
Set a smaller size, raise the resolution, use better audio (use the AC3 if not doing so already), although there's not a whole lot you can alter when using AutoGK.
If this becomes a pattern, then you might just as well do 1-pass quality encodes setting the result for 100%, instead of the default 75%.
If you still have the log, you might post it here, so we can see what we can learn.
