hi,
honestly i would recommend the NEC ND 3500A at the moment. i got one myself just a couple of weeks ago and it burns just about anything you throw at it ;)
and it's price is also quite appealing imho ...
i also have a NEc ND 2510 at work and it really prooved to be a real machine!

as for that review manono posted the link for 1 thing i will point out is this
All three of our top competitors have this feature, but the 108D can only perform bitsetting automatically on DVD+R DL media. That knocks Pioneer's DVR-108D out of the race for the best burner,
to completely knock the pioneer out for that 1 tiny thing is the worst pieces of reviewing i have seen. thats right just disregard how well it writes etc etc etc it has 1 thing the reviewer doesnt like so it wont be even considered in the final tally up. now thats just lame as.

The new NEC 3520A is only a couple of quid more and also writes to -R DL media (most (all?) other models to date only write to +R DL).

Hmm. Sorry!
It appears I may or may not have misinformed you.
I got a mailshot from this company (http://komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=305762&cks=PRL) trumpeting the arrival of the 3520 - the world's first -R DL writer.
However, I checked The Edge's link, which suggests it isn't.
But the manufacturer's website (http://www.nec.co.uk/DVD_RW_ND3520.aspx) says the following under Specs.
Write Speed: DVD-R:16x (max.22,000 Kbyte/s) DVD-RW: 6x ZCLV (max8,200 Kbyte/s) DVD-R DL1: 4x (max. 5,500) DVD+R: 16x (max22,000 Kbyte/s) DVD+R9: 4x CLV (max 5,500 Kbyte/s) DVD+RW: 8x ZCLV (max11,500 Kbyte/s) CD-R: 48x (max 7,200 Kbyte/s) CD-RW: 24X (MAX. 3,600 Kbyte/s)
So, make of that what you will
