View Full Version : Why LinkTailPGC in last cell?

I have always wondered why many DVDs are authored with a LinkTailPGC cell command in their last cell (or in the second last one, if the last cell is very short (1 second or less)).

I can't understand what this command adds. Why not let the title finish playing and enter the post commands anyway?

Can anybody help me on this?

I've wondered about that too. I'm thinking it's an artifact of the authoring tool that adds that command automatically, in case another cell is later added after that one (in which case, the command would be needed).

That's the only rational explanation I can find.

Yeah, jean, I remember that we had a quick discussion bout that in another thread. I thought that 2COOL, rolz, Derrow or mpucoder might have a more advanced explanation.

hmmm...I don't really have a good answer. I guess it's for double security that the post commands would have to be executed one way or another. I've seen this common scenario with menus that loop continously. Blame it on the authorer. Not all of them are knowledgable and experienced.

@2cool

In looping menus, I generally see post commands such as LinkPGN Program 1. I guess there could be a LinkTail PGC here as well, but again, what's the use? When the cell has finished playing, it will go to the post commands.

Does Ralphie have anything to say about this?
