Hi,

I'd like to convert an mpeg 1 to Avi -see GSpot's description of the file:
"MPEG-1 System Stream << { 1 vid, 1 aud, 1 other }
Sys Bitrate: 1411 kb/s"
I installed AutoGK but I believe it only supports Mpeg 2, and I'd like to keep the number of installs to a minimum to avoid conflicts when playback (as in some previous OS installations... XviD in particular), so which software would you recommand??

thx

You can use Avisynth (www.avisynth.org) and the DirectShowSource (http://www.avisynth.org/DirectShowSource) filter to load it and then filter and feed the script into VirtualDub (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/virtualdub/VirtualDub-1.5.10.zip?download) or VirtualDubMod (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/virtualdubmod/VirtualDubMod_1_5_10_1_All_inclusive.zip?download). For me that would be the simplest way.

:eek: erm... Thanks Obi, I might just not be a Jedi yet: it doesn't appear to be THAT simple at all to me.

Lets see if s.o else comes up with a single app that does that.

thx anyway ;)

Well you could just load the mpeg file directly into virtualdub and encode. Would that be simple enough? ;)
