View Full Version : realmediasplitter question

I have v1.0.0.9 25/1/2004 which I believe is the latest version.
Until today this has allowed me to open most rm files in ZoomPlayer. Some older rm or ram files won't play however and some rm files which I downloaded today also do not play (many other rm files from the same site do play).
The "problem" real files do play in RealOnePlayer v2.0 , so I am wondering if there is anything else I can do to make these files play in ZoomPlayer?
thanx
JB

Perhaps they are SureStream files (multiple bitrates in one file). RealMediaSplitter do not support these. With D-C's RM Shell Extension tool you should be able to find out more about your problem files: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=82222 , in particular which codec is used. I would be curious to know as well :)

Hmmm a lot of data there - the only clear difference I can see(though I'm not sure what I looking for) is the problem RM uses Video Quality : Sharpest Image Video whereas the OK RM uses
Video Quality : Smoothest Motion Video. They both use COOK - 14 codec.
Interested in your comments
thanx

Hmm, strange. I can not see why the problem RM file does not play in ZP + realmediasplitter. Both "Smooth" and "Sharp" videos should play just fine. Too bad whoever encoded these files used streaming CBR (constant bitrate), the videos must not look too good :scared: If you upload the problem file to a location I will send via PM, I can take a look...
