View Full Version : How to remove a vob cell in the middle?

Hi, I've been looking around and couldn't find the right solution. I'm trying to encode some anime eps, this particular series has a proluge at the beginning of every ep, I want to keep that but I don't want the opening. The structure is
Cell_1 - Proluge
Cell_2 - Opening
Cell_3 - Part A
Cell_4 - Part B
Cell_5 - End credits
Cell_6 - Preview
I don't need the credits and the preview either but I can easily deselect them during rip. If I also do that with Cell_2, the Vobsub subtitle will be a mess. Any suggestion?

hi SNP
you said you want to encode.
does that mean you do not want to keep the origianl structure of the dvd?(re-author it) or do you want to keep the structure and just have those cells blanked?
to re-author use dvdshrink to blank use vobblanker.

I basically want to prep it to encode in AutoGK. I guess I want to either totally remove Cell_2 or edit the IFO so it skips Cell_2 yet the subtitle from Cell_3 continue right after Cell_1.

OK just use dvdshrink "Start/End" feature in reauthor mode. check out these guides (http://www.dvdshrink.info/guides.php) . they might be of older versions but the concept is the same.

Yes, it will.
1. Drag the title into the main window. Go to start/end frames. Select for start 1 and end 1.
2. Drag the title in again. Set start 3 and end 4.
Press backup.
This will create a very simple DVD with 2 titles. FP PGC will set a gprm and go to title 1 (which is chapter 1), which will then direct onto title 2 (chapters 3 and 4) if the register matches the set value. Easy peasy.
There will be an (almost) imperceptible break between titles (less than 1/4 second). To get around this, you may wish to combine the titles - Nero Vision Express can do that. Use IfoEdit afterwards to create ifos around the merged title, which will make chapters for you. If you do this, you will need to manually input the audio and subpic languages, via IfoEdit, but I'm sure you know how to do that.
One other thing - check your subtitle colours. I have found that after a create ifos, the subpic colour scheme needs to be manually inputted. The easiest way to do this is via PgcEdit, which has a very nice copy and paste function - takes no time at all.
Happy New Year.

One other way I've thought about might be useful if you didn't want to do the messing around referred to in my earlier post.
Assume you have ripped cells 1 - 4 and these represent programs/chapters.
You could possibly add a cell command for cell 1 to link to program 3.
[20 05 00 00 00 00 00 03] 1 LinkPTT Chapter 3
Under this scenario, cell 1 plays, encounters the cell command and jumps to chapter 3. Chapter 2 never gets played.
I reckon that should work. Of course, your file size would be bigger, as it would include program 2.
Good luck.

Thanks blutach! I think the 2nd option is better for me as I already ripped the vob. However, where should I added the command? Edit the IFO? Sorry I'm very new to DVD editing.

If you got PgcEdit (http://home.tiscali.be/debie.roland/pgcedit/index.html), it's a breeze.
Open the disk in PgcEdit and navigate to your main movie's TTN. Double click on it to bring up the PGC editor. In cell 1, where it says "cell cmd", put a 1. OK and return to the main screen.
Now, in the main movie's TTN, click on ************* cell commands and then click on add after down the bottom. This will add a NOP. Now double click on the NOP to bring up the command editor.
Now click on Alphabetically in the menu at the top, then click on LinkPTT and enter the number 3 where it says jump to chapter. OK to save the command.
When you're done it should be exactly as I had it in my earlier post.
Ctrl-S to save and you're done.
Good luck

I think PgcEdit doesn't like stuff ripped by DvdDecrytor in IFO mode as I can't open the pre-ripped data.

Rip it again in File Mode - take ALL FILES.
If you don't want cells 5 and 6, blank them with VobBlanker afterwards.
Good luck
