View Full Version : Resident Evil 2 Backup Problems -- CCE

I know a lot of people were not able to rip it at first, and then there came a .PSL that let you rip it. But has anyone been able to complete a backup of this DVD using Rebuilder.
I just had it hang during CCE Encoding.

V02003000002029.vaf @ 99%
CCE Appears to be hung, however the rest of the computer isn't.
Rebuilder Is not frozen.
CCE isn't not responding, however there is no action from clicking the cancel button. The window is still being refreshed on a consistent basis though.

Lighting U.K. created a .PSL import file that would allow people
to rip the files and preserve the directory structure protection.

CCE has a problem with reencoding it for backup to the 4.5gb DVD Discs.

Sorry, I just read in the Dvdrebuilder forum. Haven't tryed to rip this one yet.

another solution for beating RE2 and maybe others with this protection seems to be using VobBlanker. you can read more here

The CCE window is refreshing, Cancel Button can be pressed,

EDIT: I'm going to try manually reencoding that section with a few less frames and see how it works.

EDIT: Well I had such a good idea and then it doesn't work ahh well.
I Ctrl alt deleted CCE and skipped past V02003000002029 and everything encoded fine.

I then manually reencoded V0200300002029 and hit rebuild. Everything appears to be working fine but! It hits VTS_02 and up pops

DVD Rebuilder Experienced a buffer overflow. Error #0003. Process must abort.

and did you try running it through vobblanker first or even reading those links ?

vobblanker deletes unreferenced material which is where they put the error tracks of course. just incase anyone was actually wondering why this should work. :)

I've never used VoBblanker as of yet, and i'd really rather just use RB and CCE if i can.

Granted I could probably use VoBB if I spent some time learning it and right now its much more of a challenge getting it to work on RB.

EDIT: Oh well its 4am here, i'm giving up on this for tonight. I'll start back up when i wake up. I keep getting a Buffer Overflow #0003 from RB during rebuild phase of V020000001001.m2v All the changes i've made to the config files manually are in the post above.

I'm a little unsure on what to do now. I've got very minimal knowledge when it comes to video although I can say I'm learning a lot from this experience.

EDIT2: I think I may have found my problem but i'm not sure on how to fix it. I'm thinking RB is giving a buffer overflow error because the VTS_02_SIZE=1384986 doesn't match with the current size because I didn't change it. And then the ORIGINAL_SIZE probably needs to be changed as well because VTS_02_SIZE was changed.

Unfortunately I don't know how to recalculate the new size for VTS_02_SIZE or Original_Size

ah so you didnt really want a solution to remove the protection. you should have said so to start with and then i wouldnt have wasted my time.

Granted I could probably use VoBB if I spent some time learning it
considering the aim for this is just to remove the unreferenced part all you have to do is enter the source and the destination and go not a lot of learning is needed. atleast look at it some time and you will see its not that hard and until jdobbs adds an option to not process/remove unreferenced material its an easy solution.

I suppose i was going a roundabout way, but it did drive me to learn a lot about AviSynth which I'd never touched before that night. I ended it processing it through VoBlanker when i ran out of options that I could follow. I knew there was a way to do it with VoBlanker, but I've never used it nor found a use for it before. I was hoping to find a way to fiddle the RB into working without preprocessing but unfortunately i caved in.
