hi everybody
i have never tried ifoedit,but would like to.reading the guides havn't helped me much,being new to authoring.what i do understand is you can remove menu's,languages,and worning lables.with dvd shrink you can edit the same things.also very easy to use.so is shrink not doing the same thing and is it degrading the quality due to shrink encoding it.(even if you select no compression). thanks:)

Well, in shrink you can do what you mention in reauthoring mode, but then you lose all the menus, and that's that. So shrink is far less flexible than IfoEdit, or PgcEdit or Vobblanker. But I agree that it's much easier to use...

hi jeanl,thanks for your reply.i was wondering if i used shrink to edit movie only,am i risking the quality when shrink encodes the project(even with no compression).i use dvd rb and cce to complete the prodject.:confused:

@radar
there is no quality loss when using no compression in dvd shrink.
BTW if you want to do a main movie with menus just use VobBlanker to blank out all the extras and strip out audio then run it threw DVD-RB.

sweetness, why the need to run it through DVD-RB? Just out of curiosity?

You can still keep the menus.

hi jeanl
well, most of my backups are still too big to fit on a dvd-r by just blanking extras. (DTS sounds good on my new speakers :D). and i'm a little picky on the quality too.that's all.
but after blanking if it's under 4.5GB you're right no need to re-encode.
happy new year to you too blutach and everyone else

@sweetness
I've found an ally!!!! I thought I was the only person on all the forums who liked DTS over DD. It's magnificent, no?
