Hi there!
I wanted to make a full back up of one of my DVDs (EMI CLASSICS). I've tried with DVD Shrink, but it freezes after 1/4 of the analyzing process. I tried again, useing a "on the fly" decryption program (AnyDVD), and again the same problem.
Finally, I decided to use DVD Decrypter (Without AnyDVD) and this is the log I got:

Can somebody tell me what is going on?
The problem seems to be in the 2nd VOB... The DVD is new, so, no scraches!
Please help!
Greetings! :)

Well... something is realy happening! I ripped all the other files from the DVD, but still, the 2nd VOB is not possible. I enabled the option "Ignore Read Errors" in DVD Decrypter, then stopped at the 38% of 2nd VOB processing, and stood there for more than 1:30 hours, I got like 40 Reads Errors and 700 Retries...finally it was a completely crash and I had to restart the system.
Is this a kind of protection or it is a deffect in the DVD?
Please help!

Thanks dragongodz.
I saw that thread hundred times, unfortunatelly, no relation with my problem...
I have almost a year in this forum, I know already how to use "search" when it's necesary.
Anyway, it seems to be an error in the DVD... no copy protection, but, the media is damaged. I will try to change it and get a new one.
Greetings! ;)

yes which is why i said i assumed you had already read it. :)

you could also try turning on "detect mastering errors" in dvddecrypter and see if that does any better.

does the dvd have any playback problems by the way ?

Yes... I checked out the DVD last night, it has finally a play back problem. I looked the DVD trough a strong light and I realized there was a very strange spot between the layers...
I need to get it changed right now!
Sorry... I should have known before, EMI CLASSICAL DVD are not that kind of "protected", from the beginnig, the the DVD was region free... it could not be something else than a media error.
Thanks! ;)

'detect mastering errors' is for checking for changes in the decryption key in the middle of a file. It's nothing to do with physical errors on the disc.

Has the solution to this problem not been discovered yet, or am I simply too new to realize that the question has been answered? I'm having a very similar problem ripping "The Lord of the Rings (FOTR) Bonus Disk" and "Toy Story 2".

As you already have seen, my problem was a media error, may be it's the same for you.
Go trough the DVD with your standalone and verfy if there are some playback errors... if it's something there, then you will have to get a new one :D .... I hope not!
Greetings!
