OK, i'm trying to burn a set of subs into an mpeg i've got.

Files i've got are:-

abcd.mpg
abcd.idx
abcd.sub

VobSub is installed, if i play the mpeg, the subs show up fine, but i can't get them to burn into the mpeg itself, else when i put the mpeg through the dvd author i'm going to have no subtitles.

Been beating my head against the wall for a few days now, nothing i've tried will work.

I've tried following a few of the guides here, but they all seem to want to convert to an avi file and i don't want to trash the pictre quality then have to decompress the file to put it onto dvd. Or do i have no choice but to compress the video to add the sub file?

cheers

steve

Hi and welcome to the forum!
It all depends what you want to do. If you want to add permanent subtitles to an mpeg, you'll need to reencode your mpeg file again (May be useing TMPGEnc) then you will have a big lost of quality.
Another possibility could be, to insert subtitles streams to an mpeg, like SVCD, in this case, here (http://www.wma-to-mp3.com/ask_us/a7042003.htm) you can find some answers.
Greetings! :)
