Can anyone recommend a freeware utility that will allow you to analyze your burned DVD disk to see how many "errors" there are on it? I am trying out various media brands and while they all seem to burn OK, some playback better than others in my setop DVD player.

Also, can anyone refer me to a good FAQ about bitsetting? I just purchased a NEC ND-3500a and it supposedly supports this but I don't really know what it is.

Thanks.

U can test your burned media with that :)

Don't really know much about bitsetting, but it has something to do with changing the particular discs(+r/-r) "lead in" or in plain english its "id code" - i.e what a standalone player will recognise the disc as - either -r/+r/rom etc. google your drive id with bitsetting.

that's pretty much it. put in some other words: you basically make believe that your dvd-r/+r is not recordable media, but orgininal pressed media. this helps compatibility in some cases. if you want to get more information, there is quite a bit discussion about bitsetting going on in the forums of www.rpc1.org - also what firmware/programm you need for your specific burner.
