Programs launch fails: "Cannot find the ScenAid installation directory in the registry. Please verify registry key or reinstall." Checked with regedit, all the ScenAid entries look fine. Same problem with v1.0 prerelease 9.

Wth?

all that does is look for the HKCU\Software\ScenAid\InstallPath key

verify if that key exists and the value of it points the the directory scenaid is installed in

This key was missing so I added it. Now the message is gone but the prog still won't start. ScenAid.exe just disregards every launching attempt und absolutely nothing happens.

Try a complete uninstall...

make sure that the installation directory is gone and make sure the HKCU key gets deleted (ScenAid)

then do a reinstall

Make sure you also have the lastest vb6 runtimes (sp6 i believe) installed.. these do not ship with the installer (there is a link on the scenaid website to them)

If that doesn't fix it then I reall don't know... I've never encountered anyone w/ that issue before

That's not doing the trick either. Guess my 4 year old Win2K is just too clogged with all kinds of stuff and something is conflicting with ScenAid.

Thanks anyway.

what exactly is it doing? I wonder if you can run another program such as numenu4u (also a vb app)

It's very unusual as there's nothing really special that occurs on start up...

this is version 1.0 correct?

It is, I installed from ScenAid-0100f.exe (also tried -0100p9.exe). NuMenu4U runs fine. When clicking ScenAid, this little clockwork appears for a split second - and that's it.
