i dont care if it doesn't show up in the program, as long as it shows in the resulting cd. take sonic recordnow! for example. i know its crappy, but that program had capability so that japanese text would be able to be read in the filename of the cd, but not in the program itself, when i would type the japanese filename of the file i'm trying to burn but it would turn into unknown symbols after i hit enter. but since this program created a lot of coasters, i'd want to switch to a different program. what cd/dvd burning program is capable of this, that does not create coasters? or, what settings can i configure in any english program to allow japanese text in the filename of the resulting cd/dvd that i burn?

The screenshots at http://www.nero.com/jp/nbr.html suggest that Nero is available in a Japanese version capable of doing what you want.

so that's what this thread was about
if i am right, all you have to do is install one of those language pack thingie from MS so it will show the japanese names instead of... well like you stated "unknown symbols"
