ok, I have a little PC I put together and I put Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 on it. This PC uses a cheap ASUS board that has an onboard VGA chip made by NVIDIA.

What I would like to be able to do is put some other card in this machine that will have a TV out -- a composite output.

I would like to be able to not have to worry about whether I'm using the PC monitor, the TV, or both at the same time.

I used to have an ATI all-in-wonder that was VERY picky about whether the TV was connected or not. It kept trying to detect, and it would disable itself. VERY annoying. So I just need something that is always on whether the TV is connected or not.

I'm not really sure about the resolution. The TV may need a lower resolution than the monitor... so perhaps I need to be able to have controls for the two.

I do have an old ATI PCI TNT2 graphics card with a composite out -- could I just use that? Or what kind of card should I get? I do NOT want to spend a lot of money on this. Also, I use Linux sometimes so if the card can work for Linux, that would be good too.

I've used ATI AIW's before, theyre great, maybe you were just having a bad time.
I use my VIVO Ti4600 for Compostite TV out now, but a friend of mine uses that ATI PCI TNT2, u mentioned, works for him.
