first off....cool prog...excellent...however, how DVD compliant is it? I ran it and then checked what it did...according to IFOEdit the chapters added are layer breaks...so your DVD can have a bunch of layer breaks on it when you make these trailing chapters...is this ok? I am using the latest versions of the program...just checking that's all.

according to IFOEdit the chapters added are layer breaks No, what IFOEdit marks as layer break is a "possible layer break". To know where is a layer break you need to analyze the file system, thought.
IFOedit gets the info of "possible layer break" from the Cell type (currently created as type=2 by AddChapter).

ok thanks.....but I tried AddChapter on a DVD project I have...3 VTS titlesets with a bunch of movies on each....before running AddChapter I do not see any indication of a "possible layer break" using IFOEdit. But after running AddChapter, EVERY movie in EVERY VTS set says the chapter that was added by AddChapter is a "possible layer break", this I thought was strange. *** The project is single layer ***
What are these added chapters anyway? I always thought you could only have a chapter on an I-Frame.
How are these chapters added? Again I am not trying to cause trouble, just interested in what these are and how DVD compliant they are.
Thanks!!!!!

@ron - see your PM.
They are 10k of essentially blank VOB (one I-frame) either added to your last VOB of the VTS or separately as a 10k file - depending on your preference. The latter is safer if you've backed up your IFOs and change your mind.
Re cell types: From my limited understanding of this difficult area, I believe that they can be changed to a 10 from a 2 plus layer break, if you want to, but I'm pretty sure it does no harm to leave them as is.

Addchapter 1.2.0.1 used 10 (0xa) ro create the new cells, but after some discuss here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=86785) and in AddChapter thread, it was stated the right value is 2.

In another thread blutach noted:
I used to use Addchapter quite a bit until I discovered that if you set the Next PGN link to the same PGC number as the PGC you are playing, then in the last chapter, no matter how long it is, it will skip to the post commands.
My question is why does this work? I would have thought that by changing the Next PGN link to the current one that there would be a loop. It works though....nicely....
Very nice

ron - see your pms again. It goes to post commands of pgcn it is directed to.

Yes, but ron spencer's question is why it does not go to the precommands area of the PGC, and play again from chapter one. I believe this is what the player does if you link to a different PGC.

@jsoto
Yes, I think you are right.
@ron, try to make a direct jump to other PGCNs in the same VTS by putting in the PGC you wish to go to. In fact, 2Cool used this technique in his guide to chapter skipping after dvd shrink re-authoring and it is very effective in episodic DVDs.
See here if you are interested (http://home.tiscali.be/debie.roland/pgcedit/third_party/2cool/previous_chapter/intro.htm)
MXHNY 2 all.
