Passion of Christ - Stretched Subtitles

I've done the Passion of Christ DVD (PAL) rip and have used substitles for the first time, The only problem is that the subtitles are stretched on the screen.

you don't say if they're separate or burnt-in, how you made them, how you burnt them in(if applicable),or what plays them back, what format they're in ,what container the rip is in, what muxing application you used or anything :)

my stupid fault.

GKNOT was used and I used the built in support for subtitles.
DivX5 Format. First time i've used subtitles, so I just used what came with GKNOT, VobSub i think. If u guys have a better way that assures me getting the subtitles in correct size, cause the movie is Widescreen (16:9) then let me know, I still have the Dvd decrypted onto my hdd. I can do it again.

ive never used Gknot, and have no idea how it works but, you say the subtitles are stretched. As your output is Divx you are probably making hardsubs. It sounds as if you have put the subtitles on before resampling (resizing) the video so it displays properly onscreen. Can you put the titles on after?

GK puts the subtitles before resizing indeed by default :)

So any idea, on how to get the subtitles on after? I basically followed teh Doom9 guide for n00bs on subs ;)

just go to edit(or filters in advanced) in the avisynth GK box, and move the line down one notch manually ;)

Here is the bit that I changed, I moved teh subtiles bit down a line, and still same result. I'm hoping that what u meant?

Hmmm yes, that´s what we meant. I assume you checked that the stretching isn´t in the original DVD?(what happens when you play them as external?) I don´t ever burn subtitles in, never mind vobsubs, so I´d need to do some testing. Workaround, you can convert them as srt and hardcode them the textsub way.Or change the font.

No prob, thanks for all the help anyway. I'll try another font and autoGK also. Im still a bit worried to install AutoGK 1.6 and GKNOT 0.28.8 on the same pc, although I was told by lenox i think that its ok, there must be some conflicts?

No there aren´t any conflicts. playing the dvd and checking the subtitles are not stretched in the first place, can´t possibly be too hard , can it? ;)

i had tested teh dvd, the first time i got it. Subs work fine and arent stretched. Will try AutoGK, thanks.
