hello, tryin to convert a 15 fps avi file to mpeg2 in cce with avisynth and its not likin the file, i think cause its 15 fps and not one of the standard fps, what would i have to do to change the fps to like 23.976 or 29.97?
thanks

well think i figured it out unless there is a better way, i just went into virtual dub and converted the framerate right to 23.976 fps so im assuming it just duplicated frames to make it that frame rate? audio/video still in sync

What conversion method did you use?

just went direct stream copy for audio and video in vdub, then went to frame rate, then under frame rate conversion i just went to convert to fps: and put 23.976
cce like the file now anyway all that matters heh
thought file would get bigger but file still the same size so not sure exactly what that does, maybe some kinda header to say what fps to play the avi file at, no idea

Well the file size would stay the same unless you'd give it a fixed quantizer. What now happened is that your bitrate is 'spread' over more frames.
I'm not sure what conversion method that is you've described, but i'd guess it interpolates. Thus it inserts frames which are the result of an interpolation between the frame before and after it.

When I tried it once before in Vdub a long time ago all it did was change the frame rate in the file header. Similar to what AVIfrate (http://www.am-soft.ru/avifrate.html) does.
