Greetings,

DVD Decrypter works fine for me, never have problems with decrypting and burning, but for some reason the app sometimes gets stuck when I start it, meaning it's searching for installed scsi/ide devices and there nothing else happens, I can't even close it. It shows then "Close request acknowledged", but won't close.

I can't even terminate the process with taskmanager.

Only thing I can do is reboot, which takes an abnormal amount of time when that issue appears, but after that it works fine again for some time

I couldn't determine any cause or circumstances that lead to this kind of 'behaviour'.

I'm running WinXP SP2, but I also experienced that problem when using Win2k SP4.

What version of the program are you running?

If it gets stuck at that 'searching for devices' point, it probably means one of your devices isn't responding to commands I'm issuing, or windows isnt letting me 'open' the device (when using SPTI as the I/O interface).

Hi Lightning,

I'm actually running 3.5.1.0

As mentioned before I couldn't find any circumstances when that occurs. Thought maybe it happens when launching DVD Dec while entering a dvd into the burner at the same time, but that's not the case.

And besides from that 'glitch' I never have issues with DVD Dec, all running smoothly.

Do you think getting wnaspi.dll from nero would help?

Putting a disc in the drive and then loading up the program would most certainly make it wait.

The Windows API command used to 'open' the drive will hang until the drive has initialised the disc (and possible windows too).

If you open the program and THEN put the disc in, you will not experience this problem. It will even say 'Logical Unit In Process Of Becoming Ready' in the status bar - i.e. you get real time feedback as to what the drive is doing.

Oh and no, the nero aspi shouldnt help.

So here's what's new: it's not a problem with DVDDec at all. Seems my CD-RW is messing around (Samsung SW-252).

It's connected to the same ide port like the dvd-rom and I observed that every now and then when my machine is running for longer period (several days turned on), the Samsung drive and the dvd-rom get kicked out of the configuration for no reason (it's also reported in the WinXP eventlog).

I disconnected the Samsung cd-rw and that problem didn't occur anymore. I flashed it today with the newest firmware, maybe that won't happen anymore.

I guess that was the problem, making DVDDec getting stuck, when those two drives were suddenly missing in the configuration...
