View Full Version : Would you choose plextor DVD burner?

Or can anyone here that use plextor burner give me some suggestion?
I heard of it's a very good optical storage manufature.
I'm considering going for a 716A burners next month.
So anyone can give advanced suggestions?

My experience with Plextor 708A:
Sure it's good, but it doesn't deserve its high price. It is very picky about media (needs good ones). If you can afford high quality blanks (only) - go ahead.

Look at the previews over on cdfreaks (in the plextor-forum)... the drive seems to be really bad!

I'd go for the NEC or the Pioneer instead mate...

Valero - Hi - have owned a lot of Plextors over the years; but at present have to admit the best DVD-burners are probably the Philips/BenQ 16xx series - there is very fine firmware support for the latest media.
The 16x Plex is a dog [so far]; & the 712 wasn't much better - it took a whole bunch of firmware updates to get the thing working OK.

But in China the BenQ burners are considered as very bad ones.
