View Full Version : DVD Decrypter's ifo not seen by DVD Shrink

I'm just trying to work out where my problem is:

I rip a file with DVD Decrypter and I have all the vobs and an ifo on hard disk, I then go to the directory to shrink the stuff with DVD Shrink and it can't see anything there, although I've run the vobs and there's no problem there. I guess that DVD Shrink can't see/understand the film.

Where's the problem: is it the output from DVD Decrypter or some problem of DVD Shrink?

Any (reasonable?) pointers will be appreciated!

Thanks

DVD Shrink needs all your files ripped. You must use DVD Decrypter File mode, not IFO.

Thanks. I didn't know about this File/Ifo setting: I just used the program as is. I've just tried and it works fine.

What's the difference exactly? What does the File option offer that Ifo doesn't?

I have a rip that was done in Ifo mode; how would I get this backed up?

well actually you should ask what ifo mode offers that file mode doesn't ;)

anyway, file mode, as it kinda says, simply copies the files from the dvd to your harddrive, without making any changes. ifo mode instead takes a specified PGC and extracts it from a vts set... this is mainly used for xvid/divx backups, but also usefull when doing manual dvd backups...

anyway, iirc you should be able to create valid ifo file structures for your files with ifoedit which you can then feed to dvdshrink for backup... should be the easiest way, haven't done that for quite some time now though...
