it's an old question, i know...
I have a Pioneer A105, Firmware version 1.33.
I have a problem to burn an image with dvd decrypter.
It simply doesn't erase the disc. HEre the error message:

---------------------------

I also try a different media (TDK 1x and MEmorex 2x), but nothing.
Also the Full erase give me problems

p.s. Riprova=Retry, Annulla=Abort :D

p.p.s. what does TOC stand for?

Use better media. Generally, the only DVD-RW media that really works is Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation = Verbatim. Note that your drive can handle 1x and 2x speed DVD-RWs, but that it won't write to 4x or 6x speed DVD-RWs.

For DVD-R, there are more manufacturers making good media, however, the amount of crappy discs is high enough.... TDK DVD-R work very well on some drives, and not at all on others. Memorex DVD-R are often made by CMC, meaning that you should worry about their readability in 1 year

I only use Ritek G04`s, maybe you can still get the G02`s (DataWrite grey tops?), both minus r`s (the most compatible with all players I`ve found) never had a fault with either..

it's unbelievable: i can't find at all the dvd-rw by verbatim around here!! i have visited 4-5 shops in the neighbourhood and find nothing.
I find only Sony (how are they?) and Fujifilm.

edit: i try a dvd-rw verbatim of a friend of mine, and i get the same message:

What does Unable to Recover TOC mean?

I must say that I am a great Verbatim fan. I can honestly say that in thed hundreds of disks I have burned, I havent had one failure using Verbatim disks. I always verify the disks using a small VB program I wrote, and never once have I had a problem.

I sound like a rep for them but they are good.

i have learnt that the burning process depends also on the burner... do you have a pioneer a105?

Yes you are right, it does depend on the burner. Mine is an external Freecom, nothing special. I have had so many problems with media. The Verbatim disks are not exactly cheap but there is no waste and you can bet your bottom dollar they will work.

May be a stab in the dark but have you flashed the drive with the latest firmware? maybe worth a shot. I use a NEC ND1300a, found a lot of 4 speed rated media that wouldn`t burn over 2 speed but I`ve only had a couple of coasters in 2 years, non at all with the G04`s (which burn ate the rated 4 speed). Only DVD+RW`s I`ve used are branded Imation, use Nero to burn them, again never had a problem. Have you tried another burning program?

TOC stands for Table Of Content, it`s where the drive reads to find out what data`s on the disk.
