How will I convert dual layer DVDs into normal DVDs? I still want to retain the quality of the videos and also the subtitles along with it. Also, I want the DVD to be played in a DVD player and it has menus. Hope someone will teach me step by step on how to do it. Thanks a lot!

By "normal DVDs" you mean single layer DVDs, right ?

Well, you can use DVD Shrink (www.dvdshrink.org) for this. If you want to keep the original quality, you need to throw out everything else you don't want (like extras, other audio tracks etc.). This will work for movies up to about 100 min.
Movies that are longer have to be compressed more. You will lose a bit of quality, then, but it won't be noticeable much as long as they're not extra long movies that run about 3 h.

The problem is, the dual layer DVD i want to back up has 9 24+ minute episodes (about 4.5 hrs). How will I do that? Do I still use DVD Shrink? Is there a possibility that I would just separate the episodes - problem is, I don't know how to acquire the subtitles (it is an anime DVD). I can just manually make the menu if I separate the episodes (I still have to learn it =P how? I'll just probably read the guides in this website) thanks the geek.

Ah, I see. So it's not a DVD with one movie, but with many episodes.
In this case, I'd split them up, like one DVD with 5 episodes, and another one with the remaining 4.

Well, you could use DVD Shrink. . but then you can't keep the menus.
Maybe other tools, like Nero Recode, Clone DVD, or Pinnacle Instant Copy, which are similar to DVD Shrink, can keep the menus. But I've never tried them, though, so I don't know for sure.

I've tried DVDShrink, the quality is not that noticeable, I think I'll keep using it for other DVD9 DVDs i have.
