Can anybody tell me which is the best program to convert vobs from a dvd, to one big mpeg2 format. When I get the vobs back tp mpeg2 I will then be able to edit it with video studio.
Thanks for any help.

Hi,
I've done that with DVD Decrypter, using the IFO mode and stream processing. DVD Decrypter will extract the video and audio streams, which you selected (in case there are more than 1), from the VOB files. You then only need to multiplex video and audio together, so that you get an MPEG stream.

So i have tried to use DVD Decrypter to split the video and audio streams but i can't get it to work. I put Decrypter in IFO Mode, then select Street Processing. I select the video stream and the audio streams i want, then i select Demux. This creates an M2V file for the video stream, but the audio is still in a .VOB file.
How do i get the audio stream into MP format or AC3, or i am doing something wrong. Seems to me DVD Decrypter should save the audio stream in AC3 format from the start.
Please help. Thanks!!

To demux the audio stream as well you need to select the audio stream, not just check it, and click demux as well. Otherwise you probably only told it to demux out the video which is why it left the audio stream in the vob. For every stream you want demuxed you have to do this.

All I want to do is make clips out of scenes from DVDs that i bought. I have used Chopper XP, but it won't always read the VOB files and it hangs all the time. I have tried to make AVIs using VirtualDubMod, but the audio gets un-synched. I have tried all this demuxing and remuxing and it never seems to work.
Is there a simple approach to making clips from DVDs? If I could convert the DVD to a simple MPEG-2 file (with both video and audio) then i could edit the MPEG-2, no problem, but apparently there is no SIMPLE way to covert a .vob to an mpeg-2. Otherwise, is there a simple tool, like ChopperXP, that actually works consistently?
Thanks, Mike

Just get Xmuxer (http://www.moonlight.co.il/download/Xmuxer.zip) and it will take your decrypted vob file and remux it into a .mpg. You just need to select the "Remuxer" option to do this, and it does it very easily.
