This may sound dumb, but I own a couple of Sony 300 disc changers, and they have a FLIP DISC option. What this means is that you can play both sides of a DVD disc. Now I'm wondering if any company has announced any plans to eventually released double-sided DVD+R DL discs, as this would allow me to back up 2 of my movies on each disc. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'd say not as the depth needed to do the DL on two sides would be deeper than the disc is thick.
The talk about the new hybrid discs with DVD and CD that don't have good playback because the depth for the CD layer can't be as deep as needed because of the other data on the other side.
I did a search and came up with "DualDisc" and the problems with the format. Maybe this will help...

the problem is with the layer depths and the fact the CD layer is shallower than it should be because of the distance needed between the other layer(s) on the other side.
