Hi
Can anybody suggest a program that will let me edit vob files.I am recording a TV series onto dvd recorder, and what I want to do is to put the six eposodes onto disc with the adverts removed.I have a number of programs but they all seem to want mpeg format.
THANKS FOR ANY HELP

vobs are mpeg format... but you'd need to demux the streams first.
for frame-accurate cutting i'd suggest Cuttermaran - it'll only re-encode the frames it has to (if you cut on a B or P-frame, it'll re-insert an I-frame so everything around it can still work). only problem is you need the .NET framework. this is why i'm not using cuttermaran :)
if you don't mind a full re-encode (there's a loss incurred here, but not tooo much), then there's a plethora of options available to you - avisynth, or NLE that can handle m2v (premiere pro is not one of these... it edits okay but messes up on export).
6 episodes on 1 DVD-5 is going to be rough though. you might need to de-noise and possibly even resize to half D1 (352x480/576) to fit them all on and still have them look nice.

Well, there's always VOBedit. It's a nifty program, although, sadly, it is not entirely Spec-compliant. If it's just for your own purposes, then it might be worth trying, and it certainly provides a plethora of useful low-level information on your VOB files...
