All,
Since I have both Region 1 & 2 DVD's, I made my DVD-drive region free using a firmware patch and DVD Region Killer. This works fine.
Now I also want to control the speed of the drive when it reads a movie from CD, since at 40x the drive makes so much noise it interferes with the movie I am watching. I tried both CDRomTool and Nero DriveSpeed, both of which work just fine. Note that when playing DVD's, noise is not a problem, since the drive automatically switches to a lower speed setting in that case.
I run into a problem, however, when I try to run both Region Killer and DriveSpeed (Or CDRomTool) at the same time. They seem to interfere with each other, so that the drive either runs at full speed regardless of the speed setting or becomes region-locked again, depending on which piece of software gets loaded first.
So my question is: Has anyone succeeded in making a drive both region free and speed-controlled at the same time? Is there a combination of software that works together (I'm not partial to any of the packages I mentioned above), or is something available that performs both these functions at once?
Thanks!
Jeroen
