Ok, I think I finally figured out how the subtitles(for non-english parts) on dvds work. Please correct me if I'm wrong
1. They're just printed on the movie, nothing difficult about it, it isn't a subtitle track so it requires no subtitle settings.
2. They're "forced" subtitles in the subtitle track. You select your subtitle track and check show only forced subtitles and you're golden.(like star wars trilogy)
3. The "forced" subtitles are on their own subtitle track which is on by defualt when you play the movie, turning them off means no subtitles at non english parts, for this you must select the subtitle track with just the subtitles for the non-english part and uncheck show only forced subs.(Like kill bill)
Ugh...such a pain.

Yes, you got it. And the tricky part is to figure which of the 3 choices you have.

well I figured out star wars and kill bill and lotr...ugh
edit: You know, I just realized its actually quite simple, you just play it in powerdvd, and if a subtitle track is on by default its option 3, otherwise its 1 or 2, and the same settings work for 1 or 2.
(you should put that in the tutorial...watching star wars and not knowing what jabba's saying or kill bill and not knowing what the japanese is really sucks)

Yes, and there are other ways to tell as well. For example, once you have the idx/sub files, you can open them in Sub Resynch. Then try out the different sub streams. If they're truly forced, some of the lines in the main sub stream will be marked as forced. Click on one of them, and you might get a Jabba line. If they have their own sub stream, then that stream will be very small (relatively few lines of dialog) and you can click on each line to see what the dialog is. Then you might get the translation from the Japanese in Kill Bill.

Even if using AutoGK, it might be a good idea to get the complete idx/sub files first and try them out in Sub Resynch to locate them. It might save some time and frustration over running the Preview a bunch of times in AutoGK.

Yes, I'm lazy... But Thanks In Advance!!!

So what are the settings if I want to see the English Subtitles to the Japanese dialog in "Kill Bill"???

Are the settings the same for "Kill Bill Vol2"?
