anyone have any comments or fixes for this one? i'm using auto gk to encode the xvid's. thanks,
basically, pinnacle is saying that there is no way to set a maximum bandiwdth ceiling on the xvid's, thus it freezes when it hits that limit on the showcenter.

Hi musicnyman,
You may want to check some posts on (what seems to be) the subject you are interested for in the main thread pg 154 here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=64266&perpage=20&pagenumber=154 .
Also a summary pg 158, still on discussion, related to the Xvid 1.1 (to be released) new or improved features pg 159. Becoming complex or many variables to take into account as Manono & Taurus are saying :)

musicnyman,
forget the showcenter and buy a silverscreen.

cheers to all of us who have dreamt of the day we can play our xvids on our home systems without the problem of high bitrates on the showcenter.
here's to the joys of technology, cheers. ;)

i wish 80 gigs was enough for what i need :)
i have a 2.4 TB disk array of stuff...
do you know if this is networkable so i can network this to my pc which holds the disk array?
also, using divx, everything works fine since it's got a bandwidth limiter included. but i'd rather support xvid, and plus 99% of my movies are xvid.
the other thing that bothers me about the showcenter is it's choppy playback of mpeg4 files. looks great on my pc and when i hook my pc up to my tv, but when i play the same xvid/divx through the showcenter, it seems like it's dropping frames in high motion or panning scenes.

all fixed. len0x showed me how to install the bandwidth limiter for divx in autogk. going divx until xvid 1.1 comes out with their limiter.
mikecfa, do you know if the lacie supports network streaming of mpeg4 files, say from my pc? or can it play just the files that are on the internal drive?
thanks!

AutoGK 1.88beta has "bitrate spike control" and "ESS support" which I believe is similar to the VBV function in XviD v1.1beta.
Searching the forums for more info now...

musicnyman,
its not an internal drive.
i know what you mean about the 80gig size. I'm sure they will build much larger ones within the year. but at a 329 price tag for only 80gigs, anything much larger would unlikely be purchased in enough quantities to make mg't happy.
about the streaming...its designed for mobility - to hook up directly to the entertainment system via component vid cables and digital audio cable (for ac3,dts).
i think its a brilliant product for the time being. The next step is to integrate wireless media receivers into the televisions themselves, so that we can enjoy our huge media libraries. but for the bitrate issue with the showcenter, this product looks as if it skirts the problem.

Well I did some more nosing around and found posts saying Xvid 1.1b was not supported yet by AutoGK.
musicnyman what-where-how does the Divx solution work? You said "all fixed" w/o comment.

it's in another post. basically just started using divx with auto gk 1.88b and it works fine since i'm using divx's built-in limiter with autogk. i'll wait to go back to xvid when 1.1 comes out.
thanks,
