View Full Version : Is there any way to reopen a session-closed DVD+R

I know this is tough task.

What happened was:

I got an ISO image file, it was 780MB. So I couldn't burn it on CD, then I took a blank DVD+R and it burned on it successfully.

The burning software I used was Alcohol 120%, image burning wizard. I didn't have the choice to specify a multisession DVD.

After burning, DVD was closed (and I think it's not even multisessioned at the first place).

Given the fact I still have close to 3.7GB free space on this DVD+R, is there any way I can reopen it to write more data?

Thanks a lot in advance,
James

Sorry to say this, but you should have been able to burn it to CD in the first place. ISO's are disc images copied at a more fundamental level than if you burn regular files to a CD. A 700meg/80minute blank CD can easily hold a 780meg ISO, so long as you burn it as a disc image and not just a regular data CD holding the ISO file. Any decent burning software should allow you to do this with the right option enabled.

@Joe:
are you sure that you didn't mean bin/cue images of (s)vcds instead of ISO images?

A 700meg/80minute blank CD can easily hold a 780meg (or even 800 meg) bin/cue of a vcd or svcd, but not an iso image.

@jayeo:
if your writer supports them, try an 800meg cd-r blank next time. If you just want to look at the contents of the file, try mounting it using some image drive software like that included in Nero or deamon tools.

Thanks guys.
It was an ISO image. I know if I copy the files out of it, the size will be twice (around 1.5GB). The reason I burned it straight was it's a bootable CD, I just didn't want to deal with the boot image sorts of stuff.
I tried both Alcohol and Nero 6.6, both didn't give me the chance to make a multisession CD if I use CD duplication, or image burning wizard.
Anyway, at least now I am sure nothing can be furtherly done.
