I am in the middle of the decision of dropping the project of comverting my videotapes from analog to digital. I have discovered that the sampling rate of the captured video and audio fluctuates heavily in in my files. This means that the first part is synced with audio using one framerate while the second part gets in sync with audio using another framerate and offset. To find the correct setting and to have things working I need to start to frameserve to another Virtualdub until I find the correct framerate. Then I need to frameserve to a third virtualdub to find the correct framerate for the second part of the video.
As I have read that many people out there have Audio syncing problems it would be amazing to have the option to preview the modification to the frame rate and interleaving without having to frameserve. It would be really good too if we have the ability to change these values in the timeline (Ie: Start with FR ##,### and offset ###, at position XXX,XX,XXX change FR to YY,YYY and offset ###).

(In days like these I think: where is my Amiga when I need it ? That system would have synced the frequency of every chip in the system to the clock of the external video source)

This is a job for Avisynth. Virtualdub, as the name implies, works best when you're just running a dub.
