I installed the latest version of ffdshow, and playing around with it's settings, I realized that this peace of software is really powerfull. Playing with settings, I saw the two sections: Encoder and Decoder, along with many suboptions. One thing puzzles me: what this Encoder option means, and how do I use it, as none of the software for compression (AutoGK, ...) displayed this encoder on the encoders list??? I had to install XVid codec, to be able to compress my DVD to XVid!!!
Help!

This has what to do with XviD?
Latest ffdshow binaries on sourceforge has a bug in the NSIS script where it uses the long path name. You simply need to change the vidc entry for ffdshow from program files to progra~1.
Newer versions of ffdshow have a VFW wrapper in system32 so no more path problems.

Maybe it's not XviD matter, but please, tell me how to make ffdshow encoder listed in AutoGK or any other compression tool??? AutoGK won't start, telling me that no XviD or DivX codecs installed???
Please, explain it in a simple manner...
Thanx :)

I am almost positive that AutoGK doesn't support ffdshow. What particular ffdshow codec/encoder do you want to use anyway? It supports quite a few. x264, mpeg4, mpeg1, mpeg2, snow, huffyuv, ffv1, etc.
Once correctly setup ffdshow should show up in VirtualDub, etc.

I want to use ffdshow MPEG4 XviD encoder, as I saw it in ffdshow settings.

If you have XviD already installed whats the point of doing that?
