View Full Version : Possible to pause render?

I run some big AviSynth scripts through VDubMod and my renders can sometimes take 40 hours or more. This hogs up a lot of my resources, and it means I can't run other apps very well during this time. So I'm wondering, does anyone know if it is possible to pause rendering and somehow resume it again later? I can't see any obvious way to do this, but it seems like a simple idea that should be possible - yet the only option on the VDub Status window is for "abort"... :(

Thanks for any help!

Well, you could set VirtualDub's priority to "Idle" so it won't chew up CPU resources, but I guess you're more looking for a solution to completely close down VirtualDub and have it resume the next time you start is - the problem here is that this isn't supported by the codecs...

Thanks Leak,

Yeah I'm looking for something to more or less shutdown VDubMod and resume later without having to start from the beginning again. I guess it does come down to the codecs... Hmm, oh well, I can always dream!

There are 2 priority settings: One for the encoding thread, which is controlled via the priority dropdown field in vdub. The second priority is for the whole vdub application, changeable via task manager (win2k/xp).

Set the application priority to "low" and vdub won't slow down your system, no matter what priority the encoding thread got.
