I'm not working on the application, but I think "when it's done" would about cover it ;)

I just hope that GK isn't being abandoned in favour of AGK.

Do not take this as a jab against AGK. I think it is a splendid "1-click" solution. :)

@doom: just kiddin :cool:

@mateo4x4 & obieobieobie:
Really, itīs done when itīs done.
Based on the fact that len0x is currently evaluating how to keep the development on AutoGK alive (Donation, Adware, etc) I would suspect GK has not the same priority. Also GordianKnot is very usable. What more do you want ?

Maybe there will be a new release with a new VirtualDubMod release? Maybe there will be one of those in time to come as there's just been a new VirtualDub release. :D

I wonder if Rob4Rip is actively developed?

DVX development is slow as well in favor DVB/C++ coding, I maintain it however to be at least compatible with recent formats and tools.

Do I detect a sense of competition here? While competition is healthy, it is useful to remember that there may really be no competition at all. They are developed for different kinds of end-users in mind. GK is much more democratic and deferential than AGK, I'd say, because it lets the user have all the choices. AGK, on the other hand, does not, as is inherently the raison d'etre of AGK - by its very nature it has to take a lot of decisions for the user to let the user enjoy the inactivity.

You want to participate and learn - use GK; you want to relax and forget - use AGK. AGK has a huge following because a lot of us may just want to get it done and not care how it is done. That may be desirable, but inhibits personal development in a way.

And we maustn't forget a very important area of GK's use. The non-standard/wrongly authored/wrongly mastered DVDs - and these are the illegal ones only sometimes, and not often. While working on the illegal ones are not supported and condoned in any way, the legally made ones without heed to proper technical procedures do hugely benefit from GK usage. AGK has some ways to deal with a few of the errors in authoring, but I'd say GK can deal with all of those errors much more decisively.

Where's the competition?

Regards.

I sure hope GK development isn't over. There is nothing like it. If it wasn't for it, I'd have to do it all manually (I'd personally rather do that than use AGK) While I don't see what kind of extra features it needs, if at least it can be maitained to work with newer codecs (and possibly other codecs/containers) would be great. Not like I expect H264/AAC/MP4 support but more is always nice.

The latest build is great. It even supports encoding to HD resolutions (saves me from having to patch the mov eax that limited it to 800 pixels wide to 1920 :D ) If I ever get around to reinstall delphi I might peek again at the source code (mostly for minor tweaks, nothing ambitious)

Another one of those threads :) Considering the dark future I'm about to announce for AutoGK, the future for GK looks even darker...

Announcing 1.74:

On the way to improving new resizing algorithm I'm hoping this is the last beta that should not have any major problems (i.e. the most stable one after 1.60). Soon the development will be continued in a new form. Stay tuned.

new form = dark future? :(

Nothing that hasn't been discussed already in the "Donations and next milestone" thread.
