Mr. Dobbs,

Starting off this thread by thanking you for an excellent peice of software. I've read alot about problems that have been encountered with DVD-RB, im not gone list them, just wanted to say that i never encountered any of them, no problems at all. going 100+ with dvd-rb at this point.

I know that menu encode will be able in the future by reading threads, will options like remove fbi warnings, logos be able when that happen? dont mind using ifoedit for now, just asking.

Read also taht some people asked about the correct way to remove language sets, i see that DVD-RB remove the language track specified to remove indeed, however, the reference to that language track is not removed, not that it matter, but anyway, just pointing it out. (MPC)

Perhaps the button "transcode" could be changed to "recode" or "encode" since transcode - to me, is something related to transcoding software as dvdshrink, dvd2one etc. just a suggesting.

Great software, no problems so far for me atleast, keep up the good work. thank you.

me using.
DVD-RB 0.66a
Avisynth 2.5.4
CCE SP 2.66

Aloha

Your right, the "after process" I always do is the "delete playback" of warnings (this requires the user and is disk dependent so I don't think this can be automated) and Clear All Prohibited User operations on the movie PGC.
It's very annoying when you can not chance subs or audio during the movie. A auto clear would be great!

I would personally prefer rebuilder be dedicated to reencoding. I think bringing in navigation editing will only cause problems.

There is excellent editing software out there, its called DvdRemake

www.dimadsoft.com

check it out

I agree with jptheripper. About all DVD Rebuilder needs to be the ultimate tool is menu encoding like you said, and then I think RB-Opt like functionality should also be encorporated into dvd rebuilder itself. That would be awesome!! Maybe some sort of merger of rbopt and dvdrb. Then RB would easily blow the big 3 out of the water. Although I feel it already does just for its ease of use alone.

What do you mean with:

You are not altering the navigation when removing Prohibited User operations. Don't see why it would cause a problem.

Remaker is good but not free and takes 20 times longer than the free ifoedit.

I think what he meant was the disabling/bypassing of titles and editing of pgc's and all that advanced stuff that IFOEdit can do. I also think that would only cause issues. If you make software that trys to do everything you get software that fails to do anything very well. So we could either have a rebuilder that is fantastic at encoding or just mediocore at doing everything. Personally I would rather just use rebuilder along with ifoedit now that i have learned to use ifoedit.

You are right Theseeker,

What software do you recommend to remove fbi warning, logos, trailers, well anything you dont want on the dvd? Ive tried some, i liked the interface of dvdremake 2.2 PRO, but that program caused the disc to be unplayable.

vobblanker might be worth a closer look

dvd remake will only make the disk unplayable if you mess it up :)

oh and the bootleg 2.2 pro was broken and would never produce a working disk.

if you bought 2.2, you should upgrade to 2.6.1, it works nearly flawlessly

I recommend any version of dvdremake other than 2.20 and ifoedit. Between those two you can get rid of the things you dont want with remake then remove and bypass them totally in the pgc's and stuff with ifoedit. so you can make the menu come up immediately on insert of dvd.

I think you can remove PUOs while you're ripping by checking the "remove PUO's" option in dvd decrypter.

My opinion (which has no more weight than any other) is that removing the stream itself is useful because it can free up real estate for better video quality (especially DTS or LPCM). It also doesn't disrupt the flow of the menus or playback.

When you change the references, however, in the IFO files and/or the menus -- you are changing the flow and are getting into territory that can cause many unexpected hiccups. For example, you can't truly remove an option from the screen. You can prevent selection of it, sure, but you still have that language choice glaring at you when you get to the DVDs option menu and have some folks who will shout at their TV for hours attempting to select it.

I guess I've set a line over which I don't want to go (at least for a while). Others have set the line somewhere else -- and I applaud them for their great developments. I just hesitate to wander too far off the DVDs original function and use.
