using Windows XP SP-2, VirtualDubMod 1.5.10.1, Ulead Video Studio 7.0, various codecs
Forgive if this is a stupid question; I've been searching and digging for hours with no luck. In this area, I am rather a newbie. The last time I worked with VdubMod was a year or two ago, on a different machine.
Problem: I have avi's captured via 1394 from a canon zr40 camcorder, with ULEAD Video Studio 7.0. I saved test files as type-1 and as type-2. Opening the type-1 with vdubmod produces 2 errors -- a type-1 error and this:
*couldn't locate decompressor for format 'dvsd' (unknown). VD requires a VFW compatible codec..."
Opening the same file converted to type-2 still produces the 'dvsd' codec error (but not the type-1 error).
I've experimented with installing (and uninstalling)various codecs: panasonic, canopus, and now the picvideo m-jpeg codec. None help. I suspect that virtualdubmod is not seeing the installed codec for some reason.
Any suggestions as to how to untangle this and make it work would be greatly appreciated. THANKS.
