I have .sharpmatrix in the source/dest dir, but AutoGK seems to use a softer matrix anyway. Why?

[11/3/2004 7:09:08 PM] Compressibility percentage is: 31.52
[11/3/2004 7:09:08 PM] Using softer matrix.
[11/3/2004 7:09:08 PM] Chosen resolution is: 512x384 ( AR: 1.33 )
[11/3/2004 7:09:08 PM] Predicted comptest value is: 66.08
[11/3/2004 7:09:08 PM] Running first pass.
[11/3/2004 8:55:33 PM] Duration was: 1 hour, 46 minutes 24 seconds
[11/3/2004 8:55:33 PM] Speed was: 28.31 fps.
[11/3/2004 8:55:33 PM] Expected quality of first pass size: 56.89

I also have .mono in the dir, and that worked

Hi-

You got a pretty big drop in the "Expected quality of first pass size" percentage from what was predicted. It looks to me like the sharp matrix was used, even if the log doesn't reflect it. But only len0x will know the answer for sure.

see change log for version 1.73...

from 1.73 change log:
.sharpmatrix hidden options now affects > 1CD rips as well

So I'll have switch to 1.73 or wait for the next stable release

Yes, but next stable release date is unknown at the moment (not before Christmas for sure).

Any reason not to use 1.73? Christmas does seem a long time from now.

I suppose I can try encoding with 1.73 and compare the result to 1.60

1.73 is better comparing to 1.60 especially if you encode oldies since more agressive noise removal is in place.
