Hi all,
My Mintek is crapping out on me :( I have to replace it with something soon. What's the consensus on the most compatible player for playing DVDs backed up with DVDRebuilder? Preferably something cheap and easy for my 4 yr old to operate!
Thanks in advance for your opinions.

For a cheap player I recommend Apex. Try getting an Apex 1500 or 1200 if you can, but I don't know if they are sold anymore. Those are two of the units jdobbs uses to test, and if he can reproduce a problem it is usually fixed very quickly.
From a price standpoint you might want to wait a few weeks if you can. I'm sure there will be some sub-$30 deals around turkey day.

I've got a Philips DVD625, it plays DVD+R perfectly (around 85€).
SVCD is suported but no subs.

A friend of mine owns a Samsung 935 DVI.
He doesn't get the audio drop-outs I'm having with my Pioneer

I'm a fan of the Philips DVP-642 even plays XviD, there are a few things I wish I could change but overall for 50 bucks it's a steal. Also if you are in the states I would wait just a few weeks (Black Friday) because the players will be dirt cheap.
btw I have 3 players the Philips DVP642 / Sony DVP-NS500V / Toshiba SD3750 and none of them have problems with the backups from DVD-RB

Thanks everyone for all the good information. I will definitely have to take a closer look at the Pioneer and Samsung offerings. If I can pick up a sub $100 changer that would even be sweeter!
Waiting until Turkey day sale may not be an option for me. My son's attention span is very very short. And I sure don't want him to mess with my $250 Sony DVP-NC685V. Now there's a good player. Never ever have a problem with any DVDRebuilder backups.
Thanks again.

I use an ancient SONY DVP-330,its not even DTS,and plays all DVDs and SVCDs fine(as long as you stay in specs for svcds, cant mix ac3 and 480 resolutions, etc).
Cheers!

ditto. Mine plays everything I can throw at it, without a hitch:). And it was only around 70 bucks.
